July Fashion Forecast: Button Down Skirts

I'm sure you've heard of button down shirts, but button down skirts? Well for the past few weeks I have noticed that almost all the fashion bloggers I follow picked up this trend. Today, I saw an Instagram post by Aimee Song and I knew THIS had to be the trend this month. It's a classier take on a casual mini skirt. I particularly like those with a slight A line cut. The best part, this is totally a fashion comeback as I had a similar skirt like this back when I was 14! I guess my mom was right back then when she convinced me that it was a "classic" design. If only I had known better, I would have appreciated it more :)

May fashion forecast: Gladiators

With work days getting longer and my weekends being occupied with two personal projects I am very excited about, that leaves me with almost no time research for my usual monthly fashion forecasts. I have started relying heavily on Instagram as my source of fashion inspiration so this month's forecast is dedicated to the "insta-inspo" I've collected over the month! Looks like the gladiator footwear trend is coming back in full force - you may remember them from 4-5 years ago when it was on trend. Here are some of my favourite looks from the fashionistas on my insta-feed. What do you think? Would you wear them gladiators?

April Fashion Forecast: Camel toes

Coachella season is in full swing and I am currently super inspired by the whole desert vibe. Camel coloured errrthang is the best way to channel this look and totally in right now. I especially love camel coloured sandals cause they make your legs longer and tanner. They also have that effortless vibe and you can practically pair it with anything cause they are so versatile. Here are some inspiring ways to wear camel coloured footwear.

February Fashion Forecast: Overalls

Overalls are all over the place this month (no pun intended), thanks to the launch of Alexa Chung's new line AG by Alexa Chung. They are the perfect transition piece from winter to summer and is also super versatile. You can wear a sweater underneath if you are in a colder climate or swap them with a crop top if you live in tropical places. The best part about pairing this with a cropped top? You can still eat all you want cause your belly won't show ;)

December fashion forecast: Black dress white collar

Anything worn by Middleton, Swift or Gomez is bound to be the next trend. This dress is not exactly an on trend item. It is more of a classic item you NEED in your wardrobe. Christmas seems to be the right time for this since it is a more conservative version of an LBD which makes it family gathering appropriate. You really can't go wrong with this.

And of course Taylor Swift who wore it for an interview a few weeks ago. And a checkered version white out and about in town. In fact, its not the first time Taylor is seen wearing this look. She has worn it a couple times over the years.
J.Lo did it a little different with a season appropriate red collar.
Emmy Rossum dressed it down at the airport recently with oxfords and a grey coat

This is definitely a dress you can wear for years and years and will not look off-season. Similar piece available at H&M.

November fashion forecast: Wear your blanket!

With fall in full swing and winter coming, it is no surprise that everybody in fashionville is bringing in their coat game. I personally love winter fashion and sometimes wish I could live in a place with winter so I could dress in layers. But nonetheless, no harm drooling over winter fashion since I can't wear them myself. This month, it's all about wearing your blankets, or at least, what looks like a blanket (think ponchos, drapey coats, thick shawls etc). It all started when the stunning fashion icon Blake Lively fashionably dressed up her baby bump in a bright patterned poncho one day. Here's proof you can still look good pregnant, and in a poncho.

Here are some other "wear your blanket" inspirations from around the web.

September Fashion Forecast: Wide leg trousers

With summer ending and fall coming, these wide-leg pants are the perfect transition item. It is still airy enough but provides enough coverage on chilly nights. If you live in a tropical country like I do, you can still rock these gorgeous pants with a cropped top or as a jumpsuit. I love how classy these pants make a person look. Not forgetting how sky high your legs will look in them. Just make sure the hem goes pass your heel and wear high heels with them for an illusion of longer legs.

I personally prefer my wide-legged trousers to be long for an illusion of longer legs, but if you wish, you can have the cropped version too.

FKA Twigs (ie: Robert Pattinson's new girl) does an interesting take on these trousers by pairing them with Doc Martens.
