Micro-trend: Ugly sandals

One of the latest trend in footwear this spring is ugly sandals. Yes, the kind which gets you a ticket by the fashion police if you were caught wearing them. Refer above. However, this is apparently not the case any more since high end brands like Chanel, Prada and Celine started showcasing these erm, ugly sandals (for the lack of a better name) at their fashion shows. Does this mean that the good old flip flop trend will be replaced by these more comfortable, slightly orthopedic looking footwear? I sure hope not. Well, unless you are an Olsen twin because they can make ugly look good. More pictures below!

OOTD: Black maxi and a tribute to MJ

A few months ago I came across an ad for a "Music of Michael Jackson concert" at the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and immediately I knew I wanted to attend it! Fast forward few months later, the day came and it was the closest I could get to seeing one of my favourite artists of all time perform. The concert lasted more than 2 hours but it wasn't enough to cover all of MJ's greatest hits. It was truly a spectacular evening where young and old congregated at one place, dancing to Beat It, while a full orchestra played in the background and an entertainer performed his songs.

Now on to my look of the night. I decided to wear a black maxi dress (dress code was formal) with a gold cardigan of mine to channel that MJ'ness in me while still looking glam. Many came dressed up like MJ with fedoras and white gloves and socks!

I absolutely love this black maxi of mine cause it is so MKA! I love how MKA are one of the few people in the world who knows the art of wearing a loose black maxi without looking frumpy. These are some of my fashion inspiration of the night.

The Olsen Twins

One of the many fashion icons that I adore are The Olsen Twins. Having grown up watching Full House I have been loving them since they were mere kids! Now, they are not only fashion icons but also business moguls, launching their own clothing line one after another. From Elizabeth to James, Olsenboye, The Row and the latest addition Stylemint which allows users to design their own t-shirts!

Anyway, the reason why I love their fashion sense so much is because they never overdo their outfits. If you notice, most of their outfits are in staple colours like white, black and grey. They do wear colours once in awhile and they never overdo their accesories. Hence, the always immaculate and elegent look. Super like! They are probably the only people in the world who can pull off out-of-bed hair, big t-shirts and shorts and STILL look gorgeous! #envy
